George Martin

Born: January 3, 1926 in London, England

George head of A&R at Parlophone and the producer of all of the Beatles records except for Let It Be. He also was arranger & pianist at the some Beatles albums. Beatles contracted with George Martin on June 26, 1962.

George Martin wrote the orchestral scores for the Beatles movies A Hard Days Night, Help! and Yellow Submarine, and also The Family Way and Live and Let Die which Paul contributed songs to. He also produced the music for Robert Stigwood's movie Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.


Stuart Sutcliffe

Born: June 23, 1940 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Died: April 10, 1962 in Hamburg, Germany from a brain hemorrhage.

Stu was bass guitarist from late 1959 until the Beatles second Hamburg trip in 1961.
Stu's girlfriend Astrid changed his clothes and gave him a new, distinctive hair style, which all the Beatles later adopted.


Pete Best

Born: November 24, 1941 in Madras, British India.

Pete was Beatles drummer from August 1960 during next two years.

Pete's mother, Mona Best, ran the Casbah Club, a cellar club in Hayman's Green, where the Beatles had been playing in 1959, 1960.
Pete played on "My Bonnie" and the other tracks recorded with Tony Sheridan for Bert Kaempfert in Germany.
 

Mal Evans

Born: May 27, 1937 in Liverpool, England
Died: January 5, 1976 in a misunderstanding with the police because he had a gun in Los Angeles, California, United States

In the early 1960s, Evans was working as a telephone engineer at the time, but was later employed as a doorman at the Cavern Club. The Beatles were performing at the Cavern Club when Evans saw them for the first time during a lunch break, and Brian Epstein later hired him as their road manager in 1963. Evans contributed to many recordings, and appeared in some of the films they made. The Beatles stopped touring in 1966, but Evans carried on assisting the band and working with them in the studio.

Evans was shot and killed by police on January 5, 1976 in his rented duplex in Los Angeles, because police officers mistakenly believed that the air gun Evans was holding was a rifle!



Derek Taylor

Born: May 7, 1932 in Liverpool, England.
Died: September 7, 1997 from cancer.

Derek was columnist and theatre critic for the Northern Daily Express when he first saw the Beatles on May 30th, 1963 at the Manchester Odeon. He was Brian Epstein's personal assistant, scriptwriter and Beatles press agent and spent six months travelling the world with the Beatles.

From 1968 he was press officer (in-house publicist) for the Apple Corps. In 1970 he was ousted during the Allen Klein takeover of Apple.



Brian Samuel Epstein

Born: September 19, 1934 in Liverpool, England
Died: August 27, 1967 in London, England

Brian was Beatles' manager from 24 January 1962.

After the success of the Beatles, Brian also managed other acts, including Gerry and the Pacemakers, Billy J. Kramer, Cilla Black, the Fourmost, the Big Three, the Remo Four and Tommy Quickly.
