The Beatles Hate 2006 Apple Corpse

Sir George Master Five and Pete Best Zarustica

On Sept 11, U.S. General Petraeus kept a straight face when he told Congress that America was winning the war in Iraq. The general used phrases like although improvements in Iraq were "uneven", violence had declined significantly since the surge began in February. Uh... sure. Time to pull out this mashup from December 2006. War is peace and hate is love.

When Danger Mouse mashed up Jay-Z's Black album in 2004 and showcased his efforts on the internet, the resulting Grey Album was probably one of the highlights of the year in cyberspace. Now come Sir George Master Five and Pete Best Zarustica with The Beatles Hate project.

Offered at the end of 2006, we recently managed to get a copy of the songs. This is what the duo stated on their website (www.thebeatleshate.com):

"The most expected release since the Black Album. After being asked by the remaining Beatles to make experimental remixes from their master tapes, Sir George Master Five and the former drummer Pete Best Zarustica spent seven entire days planning this record, that for the first time in the fab-four history expresses HATE for the war, for the USA, and for everyone that supports this stupid act.

"The results are fantastic. Picture B-Movies soundtracks with Bristol's nightlife. Sound textures that have never been heard before, noise, and unique breakbeats. This is HATE, an album to despise."

They even had the following quotes:

"A masterpiece. It made me feel like the day I died, in that silly conversible, in India."
Paul McCartney

"The truth is that Pete has always been a better drummer that I am. F^ck him, I'm a movie star."
Ringo Starr

As music fan Andrew Cowen commented on his blog: "It's the dark side of the Love album, taking samples from bootlegs and welding them to a much darker worldview. It lacks the gloss of the Martins' effort but makes up for it in many other ways."

File this together with Give Peace A Chance and Happy Xmas (War Is Over).
