Notes:
This is the definitive Antwerp 1977 concert release.
If you have previosly purchased " ANIMALS IN BELGIUM " (G.R 652/653)
you have the recording from Paris,22 February 1977.

Thirteen is the debut silver release of Pink Floyd’s February 20th, 1977 show in Antwerp, Belgium on the Animals tour. Godfather use the common tape in circulation, an audience recording which has good to very good sound.
Although most of the show is present there are several noticeable cuts:

1-“Sheep” is missing the opening sound-scape, beginning with the opening instrumental. 2-“Dogs” has cuts at 4:52, 11:41, at 12:09 omitting the line “If I don’t stand my own ground” and one at 12:39 omitting the line “And everything’s done under the sun / And you believe at heart, everyone’s a killer.”
3-The only other significant cut “Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I-V)” missing the beginning.

Pink Floyd visited Belgium many times during their career.
They made one of their first television appearances on “TV Spectacular” on RTB on September 18th, 1967 (no footage survived). They returned in February 1968 with new member David Gilmour for two more television programs, “Vibrato” on February 18th and “Tienerklanken” on the 19th. The songs were filmed both in studio and Parc de Laekan and is the earliest footage of the four piece band with Gilmour in existence.

Their first live show in Belgium was claimed to be at the Rij school in Leuven, an all night carnival with The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown and other local bands where they were pelted with bottles. Some sources dispute this and claim they played Leuven on March 17th.

Their first gig in Antwerp was on February 23rd, where they packed four hundred into the two hundred capacity Pannenhuis for a two hour legendary psychedelic experience.

Floyd returned the following year to headline the second night of the famous Festival Actuel in Amougies on October 25th, 1969 and jammed with Frank Zappa.
They played a scorching show in Brussels in 1972 but this 1977 Antwerp date is their last in Belgium with Roger Waters. (The Gilmour-lead band would play Werchter in 1989 and 1994).

Pink Floyd didn’t change the set list much on this tour.
The first half is devoted to the new album Animals and the second half to Wish You Were Here with “Money” from Dark Side Of The Moon serving as encore.

Despite missing the beginning, “Sheep” very quickly builds up the appropriate atmosphere of mystery, suspense and danger. But there is a certain unease in the air during “Dogs.”
Gilmour messes up the first solo and is late on the second.

He does redeem himself mightily during “Pigs (Three Different Ones).”
After the solos and after Waters whisper “thirteen” Gilmour gets into some pretty abstract guitar riffs. At one point he produces some “Echoes” inspired whale calls over the heavy rhythm machine.

The second half of the show is much tighter. “Welcome To The Machine” sounds like it overwhelms the audience with the Gerald Scarfe animation, and “Have A Cigar” sounds devastating.

During the radio interlude Edith Piaf and a female DJ speaking Flemish is audible before “Wish You Were Here.”

The final song is “Shine On You Crazy Diamond (parts 6-9),” still played very close to the recorded counterpart.

“Money” is the only encore from the show. The actual Antwerp tape is missing the encore so the February 20th Paris recording has been added for continuity.

Antwerp is an uneven but interesting and satisfying Pink Floyd show and it’s nice to have it on a silver release. Godfather originally planned on releasing this show in the springtime, but made a mistake by using one of the Paris tapes instead (a common misconception).
The did a good thing by finally offering the correct show and correct sleeves for the shows which are both worth having. (http://www.collectorsmusicreviews.com)

Not the complete concert, still missing Saucerful & Echoes...
but this is all that is circulated.
Wonderful show, and the quality is very nice.
One of the minority of commercial ROIO's that I actually like...
and so far this is indeed the best source available for this date.
The stereo perspective on this tape is amazing!  Not much hiss
noticeable (due, of course, to the 2nd gen tape used), but the loudest
volumes are slightly distorted...otherwise great overall.

Recording Quality:  8,8+/10
Historic/Performance:  8/10

The Band:

Richard Wright - Keyboards, Vocals, Organ, Piano, Synthesizers, Mellotron

Notes:
Pink Floyd were filmed in concert a number of times in the early 1970s, and as such footage goes, this was not the best performance nor the most dramatically shot. The show filmed at and broadcast by KQED public television in San Francisco in April 1970, for instance, had more compelling performances, and the more familiar scenes shot for the Live at Pompeii movie were certainly filmed with more cinematic flair. But if you’re a serious Pink Floyd fan and want even more, this is certainly a satisfactory, professionally made five song, 50minute concert film of an August 8, 1970 performance at the Saint Tropez Music Festival, originally done for broadcast on the French TV program Pop 2. The image and sound quality are good (though not great) on live versions of several of their often performed pieces of the period, including “Atom Heart Mother,” “The Embryo,” “Green Is the Colour,” “Careful with That Axe, Eugene,” and “Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun.” Also included is a montage of Pink Floyd photos, sound tracked by a recording of “Cymbaline” done at the sound check. As a “bonus feature,” the DVD also contains seven black and white promotional clips done for Belgian television in February 1968. They’re not nearly as interesting as that concert sequence, however, as they’re fairly typical, if just slightly arty, pop promo films of the time, showing the band goofily romping around and miming to the studio versions of the early Pink Floyd songs “Astronomy Domine,” “Corporal Clegg,” “Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun,” “Paintbox,” “See Emily Play,” “The Scarecrow,” and “Apples and Oranges.” Three of these songs (“See Emily Play,” “The Scarecrow,” and “Apples and Oranges”) actually featured Syd Barrett on lead vocals on those studio versions, and it’s a little disconcerting to see other members of the band mouthing the lyrics, Barrett having left Pink Floyd just weeks before the clips were made.

Originally posted on floydpodcast.com, 16 August 2010, as "Boston 1975 Matrix".  This is the lossless version.  NOTHING was sourced from mp3.  SHN>Traders Little Helper>FLAC
Show #155, Release date: 16. August, 2010
It took forever to do this.  Honestly I'm glad its done but I'm so enjoying the rewards of having a killer sounding recording and now you can too.
This one is made up of two sources painstakingly mixed together.  You really get a feel for the space.  The Boston Garden was a great place to see a concert.  It was built at the cost of 4 million dollars in 1928 by the same people who built New York's Madison Square Garden.  It was originally called 'Boston's Madison Square Garden' and eventually "Madison Square" was dropped from the name.  The Garden was later demolished in 1997.

The Floyd live at The Garden, 18. June, 1975.  Most enjoyable are the performances of You Gotta Be Crazy, which is different from both the 74
and 77 Dogs versions.  The set also has great versions of Any Colour You Like and one of the last pre-87 performances of Echoes.

Mixed from two recordings merged together.
- The Hopkins recording - floor section CC, row 10, seat 14.  (PRRP053H)
- The Lampinski recording - section BB, row 5, seat 6.  (PRRP053L)

This one goes out to the my X-Wife and the mother of my 2 kids!! She Still shines on like a crazy diamond. Much like Sid Barret

Notes:
THIS IS MY FIRST ATTEMPT AT A "REMASTER". I am not a miracle worker and the quality of the source tape prevents major improvements in the overall quality. Audio has four major gaps of silence. These appear on every source I've seen from this show. Video is very dark. Most of set two is hard to see because of the issues in the original taping of the show. Use of Temporal Smoother removed most video niose but can have a blurring effect. This is the "lesser of two evils" in my opinion.
****Please Adjust your Brightness and Contrast to suit your needs for better viewing****

Enjoy the show, I did; I was there, row 18 (actuallly row 3 as the first 15 rows were empty for the wall coming down!!!!) HAR

Richard Wright - Keyboards, Vocals, Organ, Piano, Synthesizers, Mellotron

As A Side Note:
Since Waters was no longer in the starring role, it no longer made sense for the feature to include Pink Floyd footage, so the live film aspect was dropped. Pink Floyd's live rendition of "The Wall" performed throughout 1980 and 1981 ranks as some of the most spectacular shows ever to be performed in front of an audience. The initial intent of director Alan Parker and Pink Floyd along with Illustrator Gerald Scarfe was to include live footage of "The Wall" shows into the movie version of "The Wall" and some shows were filmed for that specific purpose.
But after several screen tests, Roger Waters was removed from the starring role and was replaced with the punk musician Bob Geldof.

Notes:
This is an absolute musical Picasso. This rendition of "Dark Side of the Moon" is completely different and just so refreshing because of its uniqueness. There are a few complaints however; a few lines missing from "Time", "The Great Gig In The Sky" is not likeable, and "us & them" is cut too short for my taste. But otherwise a superb performance. "Atom Heart Mother" sounds like the studio version and "If" is not too shabby either. This Roio MUST be had!

Hard to find this disc is another issue of the 17.2.72 concert in reasonably good quality although Best Of Tour 72 is better. The other 2 tracks are from the 1970 BBC session in pretty good quality. -BD (#23)

On The Run jam & Great Gig w/preachers. Time abridged at 3.33. Us & Them abridged at 2.18. A superset of "best of tour 72" (bot72 is better.) Mastering - vinyl. -OSO

This version of Dark Side is the 1972 version from before the studio album was released. Excellent sound quality, and a particularly good version of the pre-release On the Run; very jazzy. -ECM
